"Feel the Personality, Beauty,
Seduction of El Bierzo.

Feel CASAR DE BURBIA

At CASAR DE BURBIA, we create elegant and complex organic wines.

They are wines with their own identity, through which you can feel the purest essence of El Bierzo, its strength, its delicacy, its beauty, its richness, and biodiversity…

All CASAR DE BURBIA wines are made with grapes from our own vineyards, old vines located in the highest areas of El Bierzo, where grape production is very low but of
enormous quality.

We practice organic viticulture, precision viticulture, and maximum respect for the environment, betting on the indigenous grape varieties of El Bierzo, Mencía for reds and Godello for whites.

We meticulously care for every detail both in the vineyard and in the winery, and we innovate in every process continuously because we know that only this way can we create great wines, the best wines of El Bierzo.

A Great Start

With our CASAR DE BURBIA Mencía and Godello, we bring the essence of El Bierzo and our vineyards in Valtuille de Arribe closer through an accessible and straightforward wine.

They are also two magnificent wines for tapas or to start a good meal.
And being the simplest wines of CASAR DE BURBIA, they have very good ratings and
evaluations by the most recognized wine critics.

Casar de burbia

Mencía

This wine has accompanied us since our beginnings. It is a village wine, as we make it with 100% Mencía grapes from the lower parts, from clayey soils, of our vineyards in Valtuille de Arriba.

To make Casar de Burbia Mencía, the grapes from each vineyard are fermented separately so that we can define the blend later in each vintage.

The wine is aged for several months on its own lees and skins, which makes it gain
creaminess and complexity.  Finally, it undergoes aging for approximately 12 months in
French oak barrels of second or third year.

Casar de Burbia Mencía is an aromatic, silky, and vibrant wine. It has well-polished
tannins, acidity, and a long, bright, mineral finish.

Casar de burbia

Godello

Casar de Burbia Godello is our first white wine and not the simplest because our goal in
betting on the Godello variety is to create white wines with aging potential.

This white is made with Godellos from the middle parts of the Valdepiñeiro and Valdaigas
vineyards, located at about 600 meters above sea level, with clay soils and medium-sized
stones.

After cold macerating the must, we ferment it at low temperature in stainless steel tanks for about 45 days. Subsequently, we carry out a long aging with its fine lees for eight or nine months, allowing it to gain aroma and mouthfeel.

Casar de Burbia Godello is a soft, fleshy, and long white. With exuberant aromas of peach, mango, and grapefruit.

Want More?

If you want to know the wines that best represent us, those that most express our
philosophy and our terroir, we have to talk about CASAR DE BURBIA Hombros,
Valdepiñeiro, and Tebaida.

They are complex and very elegant wines, ideal to enjoy alone or with the main courses of a good meal. They are great wines, and therefore, they are delicate, smooth, tasty, creamy, and loving wines.

Casar de burbia

Hombros

Casar de Burbia Hombros is our flagship wine and a reference wine of El Bierzo.  Through this wine, you can enjoy the maximum expression of Mencía and the purest character of this wine region.

It is a Single Vineyard wine, made with grapes from the middle areas of our vineyards
located in the Valdaiga Paraje. The quartz and slate soils characteristic of this region and specifically of this site convey complexity and high minerality to Casar de Burbia Hombros.

It is a very aromatic wine, with aromas of wild blackberries and blueberries, as well as
delicate notes of summer flowers. It has mature and rounded tannins, is long and complex on the palate, with a perfect balance of creaminess and freshness.

Casar de burbia

Valdepiñeiro

Casar de Burbia Valdepiñeiro is our white Single Vineyard wine. And it is a Godello as
spectacular as the site from which it comes, Valdepiñeiro Paraje, an environment with
great diversity and clay soils rich in aluminum and iron, with traces of quartz.

After cooling the grapes in the winery to obtain greater freshness in their aromatic
nuances, we carry out a long maceration, a slight pressing, and let the must macerate with
its skins, which will contribute structure to the wine. Fermentation begins in stainless
steel, continues in French oak barrels, and ends in stainless steel tanks, keeping the wine
in contact with its lees.

Casar de Burbia Valdepiñeiro is a wine with aromas of peach and mango, flowers and
citrus with a mineral background that lead to a smooth, delicious, and fleshy palate.

Casar de burbia

Tebaida

Casar de Burbia Tebaida is the first wine we made with grapes from the upper part of our
vineyards, at over 800 meters above sea level. They are soils composed of large stones
with a high presence of slates and quartz that provide a lot of minerality.

This wine shows the freshness and mineral character that have made the wine region of El Bierzo famous. We ferment the must in 500-liter wooden vats and then age it, around 16 months, in French oak barrels of different sizes, 225, 400, 600, and 700 liters.

Casar de Burbia Tebaida is a very pleasant wine to drink, with very good acidity and aging
potential. It presents aromas of black cherries, blueberries, lavender, Indian ink, and
graphite. It has a full body with round tannins, is juicy, long, and fresh.

Reaching New Heights - Our Top Picks

Our top wines are wines in which we indulge in vinifying separately vines, sites, and very unique soils with a great history behind them.

They are very exclusive Single Vineyard wines to enjoy at the highest level of the purest
and most exquisite El Bierzo.

Casar de burbia

Nemesio

Casar de Burbia Nemesio is a tribute to the values of effort and work that allow dreams to
come true. The dreams of that 6-year-old boy, Nemesio Fernández, who one day dreamed
of having a winery when he heard that his voice was more powerful inside a barrel.

Nemesio is a Single Vineyard wine, made with grapes from the high areas of Viña San
Salvador, in the Barreiriña Paraje. A wine with its own identity, created to enjoy the
seduction of El Bierzo.

To not interfere with the subtlety and delicacy of the grapes that this vineyard gives us, we carry out very short macerations and ferment with their own yeasts in small capacity
tanks. Subsequently, we age the wine for about 18 months in open barrels of 225 liters of
French oak from the Allier and Tronçais forests.

It is a silky wine, with great elegance and balance.

Casar de burbia

Tebaida Nº5

Csar de Burbia Tebaida Nº5 is the result of maintaining the legacy of José Bouza Potes,
who, in 1903, after phylloxera, ordered to plant Viña Sapita again with the money he sent
from Brazil. Taking care of this centenary vineyard is a responsibility as well as a
satisfaction.

You are facing a Single Vineyard wine, the maximum expression of a terroir of great
singularity due to its high mineral concentration of slate and iron.
For its elaboration, we let the vinification be completed in open oak barrels of 225 liters,
always with indigenous yeasts from our vineyards. Subsequently, the wine rests in barrels of 225 liters for 18-21 months. And finally, we leave it in the bottle rack for a few years until it is completely reined.

Casar de Burbia Tebaida Nº 5 is a wine of great elegance, structure, and complexity. It is
our most mineral wine. It presents aromas of plum, black cherry, orange peel, gunpowder,
and Indian ink. With full-bodied and soft tannins, it has a long and deep inish on the palate.

Casar de burbia

Castañal

El Castañ al is a small centenary vineyard bordered by the Camino de Santiago, which grows on poor soil, quartz, and slate, which brings complexity and high minerality to the wine.

From the high area of this very special vineyard, CASAR DE BURBIA Castañal is born, a
very exclusive and personality-rich Single Vineyard wine.

We make this wine by hand, grape by grape, to extract the beauty of the site and the identity of the Mencı́a grapes that we harvest by hand.

We ferment it in open French oak vats, introducing the unpressed grape along with dry ice, making a pseudo-carbonic maceration to enhance the fruitiest part of this site. Afterward, it rests in French oak barrels for about 14 months, during which the mineral traits of this wine settle, achieving rich subtlety and elegance. Its final rest in the bottle allows it to round off its excellent qualities.

CASAR DE BURBIA Castañal is a very fruity wine, with body and very soft tannins. It is a
wine of great singularity, delicate, ine, and elegant.
