OUR WINERY …
From the very beginning Casar de Burbia decided to invest in micro-vinifications, since we knew that this is the only way we could really understand the capacity of each of our vineyards.

MADE WITH LOVE
AND RESPECT
The winery grows as the needs of the vineyards and our knowledge of them have grown. We have always wanted to make wines that will last, so our wines are designed to age and gain complexity over time.
We make our wines mainly in fudres, or very large barrels, to respect the identity of our grapes and their soil, and our most unique plots in open 500 litre barrels, which is the most minimalist way of micro-vinifying.
CON TIEMPO
Y AMOR
To prevent any unnecessary interference with the wine we use the different levels of the winery to let gravity and not pumps do the work.
We want all the work in the winery to respect the identity of the land and the grapes as much as possible. As the harvests progress and with them our experience, we readapt the work, always in an attempt to make each wine representative and transparent.
El Equipo

NEMESIO FERNÁNDEZ BRUÑA
Nemesio Fernández Bruña was a visionary who rowed against the tide in the 1970s, buying the best vineyards in El Bierzo when everyone else dismissed the cultivation of vitis vinifera as unprofitable.

ISIDRO FERNÁNDEZ BELLO
CASAR DE BURBIA's management was taken over by Isidro Fernández, the youngest of the three sons of Nemesio, founder of the company. He is an agricultural engineer with a degree from the University of León and has a Master's in viticulture and oenology.

FERMÍN URÍA
Chemical engineer and undergraduate in oenology, son of the founder of Dominio de Tares.
TODAY
Due to Isidro Fernández Bello’s insight and the growing French influence on his oenological work, Casar de Burbia has become one of the latest cult wineries in Spain.
